2010 California State Fair 1st place & Best of ClassThe Finial Box at the right was chosen as the 1st place winner and Best in Class at this years State Fair. To quote the judge who selected it, "while there were more elaborate pieces in the competition, the craftwmanship in this piece was the best I have ever seen". This piece was also selected this year as the "Turning of the Week" by the Segmented Woodturners website, a worldwide association of segmented turners. It is composed of Holly, with Ebony accents. The Blue diamond is Lapis, a soft stone.
